Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) is the latest return to Coronation Street; there have been five other previously announced returns.
When viewers last saw Christina, it was at the hen party of her daughter Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), just before her disastrous marriage to Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
After Christina sided with Daisy’s childhood bullies, they had a heated argument, and Christina was promptly asked not to attend the wedding.
But Christina was not going away quietly, and before long, she was announcing that Daisy’s wedding was doomed.
Viewers will naturally be aware that Daisy’s wedding did not turn out as planned when acid-wielding stalker Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still) struck Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) instead of Daisy.
Ryan and Daisy have become closer since the attack, and they have kissed multiple times.
They decided to meet at a hotel in the most recent scenes, but Daisy quickly started to feel conflicted between Ryan and her fiancé Daniel.
She ultimately came to the conclusion that Daniel was what she wanted, but she was shocked to learn that he had come looking for her.
Luckily, he left before they were caught together, but his suspicions persisted.
Daisy told him she had been with her mother, but they had gotten into a fight, so she had stayed in a hotel, just to get him off his trail.
She went to see her mother Christina the next morning to ask for her assistance.
She told her what had happened and asked her to call Daniel later to confirm what she had said.
As luck would have it, he did, and Christina did as Daisy instructed, providing her with a credible alibi.
Will Christina only make this one appearance, or will her return given Daisy and Daniel’s current difficult circumstances?
Five other characters have been confirmed to be making their way back, but her return has occurred first.
The return of Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths), Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), and Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) has been confirmed by series producer Iain MacLeod.
