According to reports, Matthew Wolfenden “unfollowed” his wife Charley Webb on Instagram.

They got together on the Emmerdale set, and in 2009, Matthew, then 43, asked the 35-year-old to marry him.

For the couple, it hasn’t been an easy ride, though. A representative for the couple announced their split in 2013, saying, “Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have today confirmed they have separated.”

In 2015, Matthew told the Mirror, “It was never a permanent split, we just needed some time apart.” They reconciled.

In February 2018, to the surprise of their friends, they finally tied the knot.

At the time, OK! Magazine said that the couple thought they were going to Charley’s 30th birthday celebration when they were actually being joined by 100 guests at Ripley Castle, close to Harrogate, for their wedding.

According to The Sun, Matthew, who played David Metcalfe in Emmerdale for eighteen years, recently unfollowed his wife on Instagram.

In fact, Matthew doesn’t follow Charley back, despite the fact that Charley—who portrayed Debbie Dingle for 19 years before departing the soap opera in 2021—seems to still be following her husband.

According to the publication, Matthew continued to follow Charley as of last night. A source claimed to them that “Charley and Matthew were in very different places in their lives when they first got together.”

“Now that they have three children and are juggling new careers, everything has changed and maybe they are not the same unit they once were.”

This comes after The Mail was able to obtain a picture of Charley out and about in which she was seen wearing a ring on her right finger rather than her left.

Together, Charley and Matthew are parents to three sons. Bowie, their second child, was born in December 2015, and Buster, their first, was born in April 2010. In July 2019, they welcomed Ace, their youngest son.

In an emotional segment on a recent episode of Loose Women, Matthew revealed that leaving Emmerdale was especially tough. “It was so emotional to say goodbye, particularly to Joe-Warren [Plant], who plays Jacob; he’s grown up with me,” he said.

Currently, he is portraying Buddy the Elf in the most recent musical revival, which is based on the Will Ferrell-starring 2003 picture.

After leaving Emmerdale, Charley secured a part in the police drama The Long Shadow on ITV, which is currently airing. The show dramatizes the five-year manhunt for serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, also referred to as the Yorkshire Ripper.

Both representatives have been contacted by Metro.co.uk for comments.
