Elle Mulvaney addresses Amy’s trust issues with men ahead of Aadi love story in Coronation Street

Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) has experienced a terrible incident involving Aaron Sandford on Coronation Street earlier this year, which has left her finding it difficult to trust men.

Amy’s mental health has been suffering ever since she was sexually assaulted by her ex-friend Aaron in March while she was asleep in her bed.

Actress Elle Mulvaney disclosed that as a result, she has found it difficult to balance her time at university and to have a regular life with her friends.

“Amy’s still preoccupied with everything that happened.” Things keep getting in the way of her attempts to give her university work the best effort possible.

Amy makes the decision to set up a drop-in counselling session in order to assist other women who have experienced similar situations in later scenes.

“I believe that even though Amy’s friends are trying to encourage her to concentrate on her work, Amy leaves feeling like she could be accomplishing much more.” She starts organising the drop-in sessions because she feels that she isn’t helping enough people—both externally by helping others and in her university work.

Amy is disappointed when a woman leaves the session without giving her an opportunity to speak with her, but she soon gets another chance when she runs into the same person in the café a few days later.

Elle Mulvaney discloses that Amy finds it hard to listen to Kate’s story, but Amy still invites the girl, Kate, over for a conversation out of desperation to help.

‘Amy really struggles to listen to her and to hear what she’s saying because her story is so similar to Amy’s story. Obviously, it’s not identical, but there’s lots of similarities with the fact that the girl was asleep, they’d been drinking and they were friends. Amy feels so powerless as she watches this girl who is so brave in sharing her story and it brings back all of those memories. Amy thinks to herself, “I could never do that.”

She doesn’t even know how to help herself, but she’s hoping that she can help the girl. That’s when she realises, in my opinion, how ignorant she is.

Amy resolves to attend the anti-spiking march because she is even more motivated to help people after hearing Kate’s story. But when Mason (Luca Toolan) yells some derogatory remarks, driving Amy into a full-blown tantrum, things take a turn for the worse.

She lashes out more and ends up getting herself arrested when the police get involved.

Amy goes to a club where she runs into Dan, even though she told her best friend Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) that she had learned her lesson and would now only concentrate on her university work.

“Amy’s mission is to apprehend predatory men.” She makes the decision to go out and see if she can catch any men in the act because she believes that many men go out only to prey on inebriated women.

Additionally, after hearing about Kate’s experience being spiked at a club, she makes the decision to go try and figure out who exactly did it. She makes the decision to enter the club and look around. She’s searching for someone who seems a little off, or who she believes might be there for another reason, and that’s when she spots Dan.

Amy decides to handle things on her own with Dan, but what exactly is she planning?

Actress Elle hopes that in the future, Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) and Amy could be more than just friends, despite Amy’s ongoing struggles with her mistrust of men.

As viewers, we’re all cheering them on because it’s clear that they have a great friendship, are incredibly similar, and have a great sense of humour thanks to their one-liners.

Since the McDonalds and the Alahans are two well-known families, I believe that everyone who watches the show wants to see them together. Whether Amy should attend the reunion, however, is a different story.

Even though Amy has been crushing on him for a while, I believe that the most difficult aspect of the story will be watching a rape victim come to terms with her past and figure out how to have intimate relationships with people once more. That will be a fascinating topic to explore on screen, in my opinion, as anyone who has read about rape or knows someone who has been raped understands that recovery is not always easy.

“I believe it’s very difficult for people to become fine again and become okay with being intimate with somebody who has experienced something as terrible as this.” It’s extremely difficult to even entertain the notion of dating someone again.

Do Amy and Aadi have a future ahead of them?
