EastEnders spoilers: Rocky starts a terrifying fire after showdown with evil Nish

The face of a desperate man (Picture: BBC)

In EastEnders, Rocky Cotton (Brian Conley) is desperate to get money since he doesn’t have enough time to repay the ruthless loan shark Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry).

After his ex-wife Jo Cotton (Vicki Michelle) wanted £50,000 to stay quiet about his bigamy, Rocky naively took out a loan with Nish.

Rocky was resolved to assist Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) in repaying Jo after she had spent all of her life savings and took out loans, even if doing so had significantly worsened the situation.

Rocky is determined to keep Kathy completely in the dark about his present situation.

Nish has set Rocky a deadline to pay back his first debt, failing which he runs the chance of Kathy finding out about it all. Nish found out about Rocky’s addiction to gambling.

Viewers saw Rocky confide in Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman), his best buddy, this week regarding a scheme he had devised to set fire to the café as part of an insurance fraud.

Harvey correctly pointed out to him how foolish the concept was, but Rocky appeared to have already made up his mind.

Fortunately, Rocky seemed to do a U-turn in the most recent episode of the BBC soap opera when Kathy voiced her concerns about their present circumstance.

Kathy was forced to close the café after suffering her third electric shock from the malfunctioning outlets, something she regretted not having done sooner.

She told Rocky that she felt terrible about endangering people’s lives, even though Rocky reassured her that nothing bad had happened.

Harvey showed up later, and Rocky told him that he felt like his luck had changed and that he was abandoning his, to be honest, rather dumb idea.

Plan B, on the other hand, didn’t work out any better either. He went to the bookmakers and convinced manager Olga to let him place a wager.

After winning a string of bets, Rocky was able to accumulate enough money to pay Nish for the first time. He was so excited that he called the loan shark right away and requested a meeting.

But then things took a turn when he ran across Rudolph Walker’s character Patrick Trueman, who said he had an incredible tip to offer.

Despite the fact that Patrick’s predictions are almost always spot on, this one failed, costing Rocky £500 and leaving him unable to reimburse Nish.

Harvey was fortunately ready to help. He had been approved for a pay day loan and volunteered to use it to assist Rocky in repaying Nish.

Harvey, however, quickly found out about Rocky’s brief visit to the bookies and withdrew his offer, setting off a furious argument with his desperate buddy.

disheartened Rocky went to see Nish, but when he found out that Rocky couldn’t pay, Nish wasn’t impressed.

Despite Nish’s insistence that he wanted his money, Rocky was quick to point out that Nish was obviously more interested in enjoying his power over others than he was in the money.

Rocky had nowhere else to go and Nish was now demanding two installments plus thirty percent interest by the following week, so he went to the café and started tinkering with the fuse box.

Upon grasping a burnt-out plug, it became evident precisely what action he would take: Carry out his plan to burn down the café.

Will his scheme succeed, or is catastrophe on the horizon?
