In Wednesday’s (November 8) episode of Emmerdale, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) came late after spending the morning getting her hair blow-dried at a salon, almost starting a brawl in the café. Nicola Wheeler was left to struggle by herself as a result of this.
When Brenda returned, it hadn’t been too difficult because Vinny (Bradley Johnson) was the sole client. However, Nicola wasn’t pleased and quickly made Brenda know that she was upset.
Brenda retorted, “Get a life, you petty little woman.” But, she broke down and said that she had only gone to the salon to try to get over Eric (Chris Chittell), who had dumped her and told her that Val (Charlie Hardwick) and Faith (Sally Dexter) were better than her.
Naturally, viewers are aware of something that Brenda is unaware of: Eric was quite cruel to Brenda because, having recently learned that he had Parkinson’s disease, he didn’t want to burden her with his increasing symptoms.
The diagnosis of Eric is known to three other villagers. Naturally, Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker), his general practitioner, won’t comment.
It had to have been difficult for Mandy (Lisa Riley) to remain silent while styling Brenda’s hair because Eric had previously confided in her.
Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant), who was filing at the surgery, noticed the hospital referral letter and became aware of the other individual. He went to visit his grandfather at his home.
He made sausages and mash, Eric’s guilty pleasure, for the two of them and made an effort to encourage Eric to talk. He finally had to admit to him that he was aware of the secret he was hiding. “I understand your situation,” he said to him. “I’ve examined your files.”
Although Eric was first incensed that Jacob knew, talking to him was undoubtedly a relief. Using his medical background, Jacob tried to reassure Brenda about what was about to happen and encouraged his grandfather to inform her.
Pollard reiterated his insistence that he didn’t want to burden her, but Jacob had the ideal counterargument.
Would you run a mile if her cancer returned? Naturally, Eric wouldn’t, so Jacob made an effort to persuade him to tell her the truth and let her decide for herself.
Brenda’s visit to the residence presented the opportunity soon enough. However, Brenda was in no condition to listen to him after spending the morning being persuaded by Nicola that she could do far better than Eric Pollard, and the conversation rapidly soured when she discovered that her things had already been packed. She stormed away, telling Jacob to take all her belongings to the B&B.
Jacob made an unsuccessful attempt to catch up with her, leaving Eric looking defeated. It was better that she had left, he replied.
He said, “She deserves better.” “Out of sympathy, I don’t want her to stay with me.”
How will this tragic scenario be handled? Will Jacob tell Brenda the truth, even at the risk of incurring his father’s wrath?
