As rumours about Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola’s purported romance persist, it has now been said that their partnership seems to be “one-sided.”
The 31-year-old professional dancer and 22-year-old Coronation Street actress has fans going crazy with her subtle hints that the notorious Strictly curse has finally struck this season.
Only a few days ago, it seemed that former Strictly competitor Amanda Abbington verified the couple’s status as a relationship. Since then, they have been seen having some private moments together.
However, body language expert Judi James said that because Ellie and Vito came dangerously close to having a kiss at the conclusion of their performance, they may only be feeling one side of the feelings.
According to Judi, the pair seemed to be aiming for Bobby and Dianne’s record-breaking almost-kiss at the conclusion of their dance, but they were just a few seconds away.
The pair ends their dance to pose with their lips tantalisingly near while the crowd goes crazy, hoping for a breakdown of control that results in a true mouth kiss. This ritual is a fixture of Strictly performances.
It took Vito almost nine seconds to stay above Ellie’s lips. Thoughts of true passion were shattered as it became evident that they were both exhausted from their hectic schedule.
If there’s any affection developing between these two, it’s showing in two quite distinct sets of nonverbal cues.
Judi went on, “Ellie appears to have respect for Vito as a coach by looking up to him.” However, Vito seems to be infatuated with giving her hugs and kisses incessantly.
At the conclusion of the ritual, he buried his face in her neck, drawing her in close and kissing her all over the cheek.
Ellie turns away as he gives her a double-arm embrace around her neck and shoulders, but her gaze stays on Tess [Daly] as he gives her an affectionate massage on the arm.
“Ellie adopted a body pose that looked shy and girlish, giggling at Tess or Claudia [Winkleman] while standing with her fingers meshed in a hand clasp that is held in front of her lower torso,” the statement reads. “While Vito showered her with kisses.”
“Vito’s tactile behaviour and confidence blend in well with Ellie’s more coy rituals,” Judi concluded.
“But with all of Vito’s hugs and Ellie’s bashful smiles, they’re making all of the emotions look really one-sided right now.”
Ellie recently revealed how much her partner meant to her, stating that without him, she would be “lost” on the dance floor.
She said, “I don’t even want to think about taking to the dance floor without Vito,” in a clip from Friday’s It Takes Two.
I wouldn’t know where to start. My biggest dread would come true.
