Emmerdale spoilers: Confusion as Rodney introduces Rhona to character she’s already met

The issue with Emmerdale is that everyone is acquainted. Every time you visit the Woolpack, the store, or the café, you can always count on someone to welcome you by name.

That is, after all, the norm. However, Ethan Anderson (Emile John) was a little surprised by Rodney Blackstock’s (Patrick Mower) welcome when he entered the café on Wednesday, November 15.

“Aemonn!” How do you feel? said he. Ethan glanced over his shoulder, but no one was there. He could tell Rodney was speaking to him.

Rodney asked, “This is where you tell me how you are.”

“Or where I tell you that my name is Ethan,” Ethan said.

“Well, that also works,” Rodney said. What am I able to get you?

“Give me a calendar, and I’ll demonstrate to you how long I’ve been here,” said Ethan, who has been living in Emmerdale for almost three years but hasn’t really had much of an influence on Rodney in that time.

To be fair to Rodney, he had just received news about his daughter Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), so he was a little preoccupied. After leaving the hamlet to try and make the B&B successful, she accrued a significant debt and fled to Portugal. She was first and foremost in Rodney’s thoughts; poor guy was an emotional wreck when his darling daughter departed.

However, Rodney never fails to be kind and courteous, so when Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) entered the café, he presented her to “Ethan” right away.

Rhona, who obviously remembers faces better than Rodney, became momentarily perplexed when she realized she was meeting one of her real neighbors.

However, because Ethan is a lawyer and she needed to consult him on a legal subject, she was happy to have run into him.

Rhona recently learned that her ex-husband Gus Malcolms (Alan McKenna) had his wife Lucy pregnant after he had stolen her passport and falsified her signature to have access to some embryos they had frozen when they were a couple.

Ethan informed her that the legal issue is complex. Stealing the passport constituted theft, faking the signature was fraud, and the clinic may have been irresponsible if it hadn’t conducted enough inspections.

However, he warned that the court struggle would be protracted and costly due to the peculiar and complicated nature of the circumstances. That was all Ethan had to give, a promise to look into things for her.

Rhona made plans to see Gus the next day after Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) told her daughter that talking to him would probably be the best course of action.

“I know it ends badly for someone,” Rhona said in Mary, adding that she had no clue how it would all work out.
