What happened in tonight’s Emmerdale?

After learning that her ex-husband Gus had stolen her passport in order to utilise her embryo, Rhona made plans to meet him at the Woolpack. Rhona had already informed him that she wouldn’t approve of him and Lucy having a child in that manner.

But when Gus did not appear, a furious Rhona rushed to his residence to confront him. When she saw him getting ready to go with his luggage packed, she became enraged.

Lucy emerged from her very pregnant state as they fought on the driveway. Since the baby was developing and she was adoring it, she pleaded with Rhona not to remove it.

When Lucy passed out in agony and Rhona saw blood on the floor, things became more serious. After hurrying Lucy to her vehicle, she drove her directly to the hospital.

The baby, a female, was delivered at 30 weeks gestation. After considerable bleeding, Lucy was transported to the operating room.

How did Lucy die in Emmerdale?

Then Gus received the heartbreaking news that his wife had not survived. A postpartum haemorrhage had occurred.

Rhona was inconsolable, but Gus became enraged and accused her of being the reason for Lucy’s demise when she questioned him about the baby. He said that Rhona was solely to blame for her stress.

Rhona sobbed in her mother Mary’s arms as she left the hospital, admitting that she knew she was to blame. She added that Lucy’s fear that Rhona might kidnap her baby caused her to go into early labour.

Rhona was not amused by Mary’s attempts to reassure her that it wasn’t her fault and to calm her down. As the tragic scene came to a conclusion, she cried.

Rhona’s next move

The next week, Rhona’s struggles are still evident. She is unable to resist visiting the hospital, and she often slips over to view the infant.

Gus shows up and is incensed to see her as she approaches a nurse to ask additional questions. Without apologising for his outburst, Rhona departs once again.

April, meantime, is aware that her parents are hiding things from her. Rhona gives Marlon the straight scoop about the baby in spite of her reservations.

Is Rhona able to let the baby go? Or will she defend the infant that she thinks is her daughter?

Rhona will want to be part of the baby’s life and Zoe Henry, who portrays her, confirmed to Digital Spy that Rhona has “got a very busy Christmas coming up with a few unexpected guests. That’s not too mysterious, I promise!

“I believe that a long path is ahead. Nothing is clear-cut or sequential. I really believe that it will make for excellent viewing.”
