Recently, on Coronation Street, Gemma (Dollly-Rose Campbell) has been concerned about young Joseph (William Flanagan). Gemma didn’t take any chances when the boy complained of having a headache and hurried him to the emergency room.
Given the mild beginnings of her brother Paul’s (Peter Ash) MND symptoms, it appeared as though she was simply being overly cautious. The physician who examined Joseph told Chesney (Sam Aston) that Gemma just needed to take it easy for a while because their son wasn’t in any danger.
However, in later episodes, Joseph develops a serious illness, and it appears that someone is intentionally hurting him.
He tells Gemma that he’s not feeling well, and she chooses to follow the doctor’s advice and not exaggerate the situation. Thinking that once Joseph gets to school, everything will be alright, she sends him off.
Later, Chesney receives a call from the school asking him to come get his sick son. He takes Gemma to task for not listening to Joseph’s grievances after they arrive home.
Gemma takes offence at Chesney’s implication that she’s not coping since it appears she can’t win. She storms out after saying she feels like a bad mother.
The following day, Joseph is still not feeling well, so Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove), one of her alternate remedies, says he should have a nice cup of lavender tea. After Gemma prepares the concoction and forces Joseph to drink it, he passes out soon after.
After Chesney dials for help, Joseph is brought to the hospital. Gemma had warned Chesney that there was a serious problem with Joseph, and he feels bad for not listening to her. However, when the doctor approaches him to discuss the situation, he delivers a devastating revelation.
Joseph, according to the doctor, has been poisoned.
What’s worse is that the medical staff believes Gemma poisoned him on purpose due to her past actions.
The family gathers for a special “Christmas” lunch so that Bernie, who is going to serve time in jail, can partake in what will probably be Paul’s final Christmas. Chesney shows up as the celebration picks up steam, bringing Joseph along with a child protection officer who wants to question Gemma about whether or not she poisoned Joseph.
That’s one way to ruin the festive atmosphere, I suppose. To what extent is Gemma in trouble?
Sam Aston stated, “Gemma and Chesney are wondering, how has he been poisoned?”
Who poisoned him, and why? How on earth did that happen? And there’s the whole thing where the social worker is wondering, “What’s going on here?” Is Gemma qualified to be his carer?
Thus, things start to get out of hand rather quickly. The doctor and social worker converse while Chesney and Gemma are by Joseph’s bedside. And all they’re really doing is interrogating Gemma.
Sam continued, “He knows that she’d never do anything to purposely harm him, but he does worry” in response to the possibility that Gemma might poison Joseph. However, while Bertie was watching the kids, you had the scenario involving the tablets in the bag. This now.
He’s just wondering, Is she okay? He must exercise caution, though, as you don’t want to unjustly accuse a loved one of anything. because it doesn’t take long to dig yourself into a big hole! Thus, the situation is precarious.
There’s going to be a lot more, and their marriage will undoubtedly be strained. They have a challenging period ahead of them.
