Emmerdale’s Sam Dingle was left stunned on Thursday night over a new Craig Reed bombshell after the villain’s death
On Thursday night, Sam Dingle of Emmerdale was in complete shock.
Lydia Dingle, Sam’s wife, just recently questioned her family after the discovery of her rapist Craig Reed dead in a field. It was eventually discovered, after a week-long whodunit, that Sam had physically assaulted Craig prior to his being attacked by Kim Tate’s horse, with Kim and Cain Dingle allowing Craig to die in the field.
Lydia has been staying at Home Farm to try to make sense of things after finding out that Sam had assaulted Craig after she asked him to do nothing. Sam was shocked to hear that Lydia was going to Craig’s funeral on Thursday’s episode, and he wondered why she would attend. He spoke to Lydia later, even though he was advised not to, and she said, “I’m hoping by doing this one thing, I might be able to put an end to something that has been bothering me for weeks.”
Then, after insisting he wouldn’t stop her, Sam gave her a black cloak he had found for the burial that she had thrown aside. Later, Lydia had a heart-to-heart with Samson Dingle after she unintentionally missed the burial while watching Esther. Lydia informed Sam that although though she was glad to be back home, they still had a long way to go and that she would want to have a chippy tea with her family before the episode concluded.
But viewers were left perplexed during the events, wondering why Lydia would want to attend Craig’s funeral and how she had treated Sam. Twitter users, now X, said the following: “Please enlighten me but why is Lydia going to her rapist’s funeral? #emmerdale.” One user asked, “Why is Lydia going to the funeral #Emmerdale?” with an emoji of confusion.
Another viewer commented elsewhere: “#lydia #emmerdale “This is absurd—why would she attend her rapist’s funeral and treat Sam as though he committed the crime?” one fan said, while another said, “Lydia is attending Craig’s funeral,” complete with an emoji for disbelief. Another viewer of the soap opera pleaded, “Enough with Lydia & Sam now please!” and urged the pair to get back together.
