In upcoming Coronation Street episodes, dog lover Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) is going to get herself into serious trouble when she confronts a man who is operating an illegal puppy farm. However, Cassie (Claire Sweeney), her daughter, makes matters worse.
Maureen Lipman described Evelyn’s involvement to us.
“The dog is obviously scared,” the woman told Metro.co.uk, “she is at the precinct and she sees this dodgy looking chap with a van and he is shouting at the dog.”
“She is adamant about saving the dog because she loves dogs and she will never stand by and let someone get away with something she thinks is unfair.”
Evelyn tries to convince Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that they should get a dog, so she “liberates” the animal and brings it home. She then starts pursuing the owner of the dog.
“She wishes to locate him,” Maureen went on. People always saying you can’t just go in and tell the police, “He’s got an illegal puppy farm,” so she borrows a camera and records him when she sees him in the charity shop. She goes after him. When he realises she is following him, he betrays her.
The actress clarified that Evelyn finds the situation to be frightening very quickly.
He makes two threats against Evelyn and is a violent and dangerous man. Even though Evelyn is obviously terrified, she won’t acknowledge it. But because she loves Tyrone so much, it becomes really problematic when he threatens to hurt him if she doesn’t stop. She understands that in order to keep her family safe, she must step back.
Cassie, Evelyn’s daughter, takes the animal for a walk and unintentionally exacerbates the situation. Evelyn is appalled because she knows that there might be unfavourable outcomes if the dog’s owner finds them. She carries them back inside the house, but Terry, the dog’s owner, has already noticed them, so it’s too late.
After tracking Evelyn to the store, he locks the door and posts the sign “Closed.” He demands to know where his dog is and makes threats towards Evelyn.
When Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) returns, he discovers that the shop is locked. Seeking assistance to break the door, he grabs Gary Windass (Mikey North).
Maureen informed us that Cassie makes things much, much worse, so this isn’t the end of the story.
“Cassie is a good-looking girl, but she’s kind of like an older Evelyn. She goes too far, which puts Evelyn in danger and causes her to get into more trouble,” the woman sighed.
“In Coronation Street, blood is thicker than water, but despite their friendship, they have arguments over this because she goes farther than Evelyn would have.”
