Family dissolves into tears in emotional video as Coronation Street legend is jailed

In tonight’s (December 4) episode of Coronation Street, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) is scheduled to be sentenced. A new spoiler video has revealed the tragic outcome and the family’s heartbreaking response.

After her laptop scam was discovered, Bernie was arrested for handling stolen goods and later found guilty of the crime.

The family was devastated by this, especially in light of Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) recent prognosis.

Paul was recently told that he only had six to twelve months to live after receiving a motor neurone disease diagnosis earlier this year.

To make this already horrific experience even more unbearable, Bernie’s attorney disclosed that due to her criminal history, she may spend as much as six months in prison, which would prevent her from being present for Paul’s last moments.

In the most recent spoiler video, Paul, Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell), and Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) observe from the gallery as Bernie goes to the stand once more to find out her fate.

The judge began by stating that, although she sympathised, she had a duty to enforce the law and that she had taken into account Bernie’s mitigating circumstances with Paul’s illness.

She continued by describing how the crime itself had affected her choice, charging Bernie with betraying Big Garth, her co-conspirator, and exploiting Shelley, Paul’s friend who tragically passed away from MND.

The judge also cited Bernie’s prior convictions before declaring that she was forced to impose a custodial sentence because it was obvious that she had not learned from lesser penalties.

At that point, the judge informed Bernie that he would be serving at least half of a three-month prison sentence.

Bernie bid her children farewell with great emotion as they both started crying as she got ready to leave with the policeman.

Will Bernie have enough time after his release from prison to spend special moments with his dying son Paul?
