Coronation Street’s Gemma Winter-Brown given final warning over Joseph

The child protection officer catches her in an unfortunate moment.

A final warning regarding Joseph’s care in Coronation Street has been given to Gemma Winter-Brown.

Child protection officer Caitlin warned Gemma last week that she would need to temporarily leave her family home or the child would be placed in foster care.

This resulted from an ongoing investigation into Gemma’s accidental ingestion of lavender oil while Joseph was unwell.

Gemma had additional anxiety on Monday, December 4, when her mother Bernie’s court sentencing hearing for selling shady products with business partner Big Garth took place.

When the judge formally sentenced Bernie to three months in prison with the requirement that she serve at least half of the term behind bars, the family was devastated.

Before Dev Alahan intervened to stop her, an enraged Gemma began smashing up the inside of Big Garth’s van.

After Gemma was sent home by Chesney, who was trying to reason with Bernie’s associate, Garth threatened to call the police. Back at No. 5, Joseph complained of a headache, so Gemma had to deal with his poor health once more.

When Caitlin got there, Gemma was by herself with the kid. Gemma was not permitted to be by herself with the boy while the child protection investigation was ongoing, so Caitlin issued her one last warning.

“You both need to realise, if you do anything like this again while you’re under investigation, [the children] could be taken into care,” Caitlin stated to the couple.

After she left, Gemma was reprimanded by Chesney for constantly bringing trouble to their door. Despite her brother Paul’s best efforts to reassure her that everything would work out, Gemma fled in despair.
