We offer our condolences to Inga Cadranel, an alumna of General Hospital (formerly of Harmony), who is mourning the passing of Charles Officer, an actor, director, producer, writer, and filmmaker who was very close to her. The former ABC soap opera star honoured the man who was not only her writing and production partner but also her confidant and close friend of two decades on social media.

With reference to the Officer’s passing on Friday, December 1, Cadranel said, “I haven’t been able to surface for a couple days to make this post.” After expressing her gratitude to everyone who had been keeping an eye on her, she said, “My writing partner, producing partner, confidant and beloved friend of 20 years has transitioned to the spiritual world.”

She thought about how Officer was the one person in her life who had always supported and believed in her. “It would be an understatement to say I lost a friend,” she continued. “There is no light in the world. An angel. For the previous year, a small group of us had been keeping his health concerns private, and we felt that he was improving every day. The best part of my year was spending three hours just talking with Charles in his hospital room the last time I saw him.

Cadranel reflected on the many conversations she’d had with her friend concerning their exciting future together as well as ongoing and upcoming projects. “I’m completely destroyed. Every minute that goes by, I miss you,” she said. Charles Officer, you have my love. I adore you a great deal. Your name, your art, and your spirit are all being preserved by me. That’s what I swear to you, old friend. I refuse to give up.

Officer has contributed to a number of television programmes, including Saving Hope, Rookie Blue, Ransom, and most recently, The Porter.

Once more, our sincere condolences go out to the actress and everyone who knew and loved Officer.
