The good news for fans is that Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) will not be leaving Coronation Street permanently. Tyrone Dobbs will be leaving the show this Christmas.

Alan had serious surgery, therefore he will need to take a brief sabbatical after 25 years on the programme. The mechanic is leaving to cover for Alan.

Since learning that his real mother Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) is still alive, Ty has been going through a difficult period.

Even though she was aware of the reality, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) had already informed Tyrone that his mother had passed away.

Ty was shocked when Cassie revealed the truth at the Bistro, defying her mother’s wishes for her to remain secret until she had overcome her heroin addiction.

Tyrone is now scheduled to depart from the cobbles for Christmas.

Evelyn calls at number nine, offering to take the children to Norfolk to meet his wife Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine), while she celebrates Christmas with Roy Cropper (David Neilson). This is how his departure starts.

Early in the summer, Fiz moved from the Street to take a well-paying position as supervisor at an Underworld factory in Norwich. This plot served as filler when Jennie took maternity leave to care for her third child.

When Evelyn convinced Ty that he needed to inform Fiz about the events in Weatherfield, she made a much-needed comeback in September via a video chat.

Alan congratulated the medical workers in an Instagram post from November, stating that he had “ACL reconstructive surgery,” a serious knee procedure.

“A long 9–12 months of rehabilitation ahead,” he said.

The actor was wed to 40-year-old Lucy-Jo Hudson, a former Coronation Street actress who starred in the serial opera from 2002 to 2005.

Actress Tisha Merry, who portrayed Steph Britton on Coronation Street from 2013 to 2018, is now dating Alan. In 2019, they disclosed their romance to the public.

Ty will be much missed at Weatherfield; his exact length of absence is unknown. We also wish Alan a quick recovery.
