Adam Thomas, the former star of Waterloo Road and Strictly Come Dancing, was forced to cancel a podcast recording session due to excruciating rheumatoid arthritis pain.

The 35-year-old Emmerdale star, who shares the Mic podcast with his brothers, had to withdraw from the Mancs because of unbearable pain.

When discussing Adam’s absence, Ryan Thomas, Adam’s brother and a former Coronation Street star, said: “I can see the pain he’s going through.”It’s really difficult to watch.

“He’s not hungover, he’s actually struggling with his arthritis. He has good days and bad days, and today is one of those bad days,” said Scott, Adam’s twin and a former Love Island contestant.

The actor has been going through ups and downs in the last few weeks despite his best efforts to manage his symptoms.

Adam, who starred in this series alongside 33-year-old Luba Mushtuk, previously discussed the support he has received from the Strictly crew in an interview with Metro.co.uk.

“I’m doing fine,” he said at the outset of his update.

“The BBC team is connecting me with the appropriate doctors and specialists to manage my condition and provide the necessary physical therapy.”

However, we’re managing it. Although it’s been difficult, I believe that dancing and going out to practise every day are helping. I didn’t do much before because I was in so much pain, but now I have no justifications! I must get up and start dancing.

“With arthritis, there are good days and bad days; you just never know when the flare-ups will happen, but we’re managing.”

Adam also talked about his trepidation, having previously recorded a “full-on anxiety attack” before the live performances.

The former Emmerdale actress remarked, “I’m really trying to get over it.” Every week, I just can’t shake the anxiety.

As an actor, I’ve never performed or been on stage in front of a live audience, so I’ve never really been nervous before, but it’s difficult and challenging. It will be nerve-wracking because you’re going to be doing something you’ve never done before every week.

After I shared on Instagram that I was going through this, a lot of people contacted me. The fact that they are taking the time to write to me and offer advise simply means a lot.
