A prominent soap star will leave the show under tragic circumstances, and two important cast members will return and bring significant trouble with them. Coronation Street has revealed the details of its explosive Christmas storylines.
A number of the biggest families on the soap opera are dealing with severe difficulties on top of these changes, which also involve the introduction of a significant new character into Carla Connor’s (Alison King) life.
Following Ed’s (Trevor Michael Georges) numerous and disastrous errors, the Bailey household faces the most miserable of Yuletides, while the Winter-Brown clan tries everything in their power to make the most of their terrible circumstances.
As everyone is aware, Lucy Fallon is back as Bethany Platt, and Ciaran Griffiths portrays the evil Damon Hay, who causes equal turmoil in the life of Sarah, Bethany’s mother (Tina O’Brien).
However, the greatest return of all isn’t human.
“As Christmas approaches, Jenny and Daisy are determined to raise the funds to buy back the pub,” a Corrie spokesperson told us.
Will they be able to secure the future of the popular watering hole on the street by taking desperate measures?
They went on: “Daniel has abandoned Daisy, and her own future is also uncertain as a result of her affair with Ryan being made public.” Daisy is holding out hope for a reconciliation and won’t give up. This Christmas, will they be sharing another kiss beneath the mistletoe?
What else, though, is falling? Carla and Peter Barlow’s (Chris Gascoyne) well-liked relationship ends horribly.
“Peter bids farewell to Weatherfield in what’s both heartwarming and heartbreaking Christmas for Carla,” the Corrie spokesman hinted.
“Since killing Stephen, Peter has been facing his past demons and becoming more and more drawn to alcohol as he battles Carla’s unwavering determination to turn the factory around.”
“Will Carla’s marriage suffer as a result, or can they focus on their future together?”
Giving away even more Christmas spoilers, they continued, saying, “Ed finds it difficult to control his urge to gamble again, and dad Sarge’s arrival doesn’t make him feel better about himself.” Ed hits a devastating new low when his old habit overcomes him, which will have an effect on the Bailey family’s Christmas celebrations.
With mum Bernie in jail, Emma and Paul are both dealing with their own heartbreak. Paul and Billy fight to make every moment matter because they know it might be Paul’s last Christmas, and Gemma struggles with her relationships at home after being accused of being a bad parent.
But the families come together to make it a Christmas to remember, in typical Winter-Brown fashion.
But as 2023 draws to an end and the New Year arrives, it appears that the drama is only getting started for some.
When Bethany Platt unexpectedly reappears on the street, viewers can anticipate fireworks. Is her unexpected visit more than just a family reunion?
Sarah is devastated not only to have her daughter back but also to see her ex-boyfriend Damon again. Reconciliation seems likely after a promising New Year’s Eve spent with her estranged husband, Adam.
