EastEnders airs twist in murder story that turns everything on its head

We’ll be getting set to watch the biggest EastEnders episode of the year at this time next week, but recent scenes have completely confused us about who the dead corpse will be.

In February, The Six—Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Denise Fox (Diane Parish), and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean)—teased a massive Christmas Day murder on EastEnders.

We were depending on a pair of amber cufflinks as the sole possible indication as to the identity of the victim, and we thought they may be the one about to meet their maker.

It has been revealed that, by Christmas Day, “most of the blokes in Walford will be wearing them,” as Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) put it. Previously, only Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) had a pair of these terrible cufflinks.

How very narrow-minded of me.

After the devastating death of Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) earlier this year, Alfie showed up to Billy Mitchell’s (Perry Fenwick) stall tonight (December 18) in the hopes of giving him some Christmas happiness.

We almost laughed out when he eventually opened his box and revealed to Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) precisely what he was selling. Or was it more of a grimace?

Billy said that there were several pairs of those amber cufflinks in Alfie’s box, and they were selling like crazy.

Although this episode only featured Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) purchasing a pair, we can only surmise that many other men also believed they would be an ideal Christmas present for themselves based on the amount of money Billy had amassed.

It appears that executive producer Chris Clenshaw, who previously assured us that the episode will keep viewers wondering “until the very end,” wasn’t exaggerating in the slightest.

Given that every guy and his dog seem ready to purchase a pair of amber cufflinks, anybody may be the murder victim.

All of the Walford lads will need to keep an eye on their backs.
