Coronation Street spoilers: Dead serial killer Stephen seals the future of the Rovers

Many Coronation Street residents were left reckoning the price of Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) numerous crimes after his death, the most notable of which being the theft of Underworld’s bank account contents. He also committed several attempted murders.

However, it appeared that some good had come from Stephen’s reign of terror in the episode that aired on Wednesday, December 20, when Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) persuaded Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) that they could use the money Stephen had stolen to purchase the Rovers Return.

After looking through Stephen’s diary for potential passwords, Daisy was able to decipher the password to his private bank account. She successfully transferred £50 to her personal account as a test, and to celebrate, she purchased a bottle of champagne.

All that was left was to persuade Jenny that they ought to retain the money, as Stephen had obviously taken it from Underworld and Carla Connor (Alison King).

After a heated altercation in the street earlier, when Jenny asked Carla if she could borrow some money, Daisy was not in the mood to be particularly kind to Carla. After beginning their talk amicably, Jenny brought up Carla’s brother Aidan (Shayne Ward), and Carla informed Jenny that “her fella,” Stephen, was the reason Carla’s business was failing. From there, their conversation quickly descended into an insulting exchange.

Daisy appeared, and Carla gave her the finger. Is that it—have you ran out of men who are weak to exploit? Jenny had to step in and diffuse the tension before someone was smacked around.

Jenny went to see Carla since she thought she should have the money, but instead she saw Sarah (Tina O’Brien), who was overjoyed that the factory had landed a contract that would allow them to be “back on their feet in no time.”

Rita (Barbara Knox), who has seen quite a few landladies come and go, told Jenny that she was one of the best landladies the Rovers have ever had, which is another factor that persuaded Jenny.

Later, she informed Daisy, “I’m in.” “Let’s acquire the bar.”

The idea is to make it look like Jenny had a bank loan, in which case she will be regarded as the owner by all parties. Daisy emphasised that she wants to be listed on the deeds as a legal co-owner. “In our hearts, we’re equals,” she stated.

Jenny was still troubled by her conscience, and for good cause. Their actions are highly dubious from a legal and moral standpoint, but that is to be expected from anything Stephen Reid has been involved with.
