This year, Coronation Street inhabitants will celebrate Christmas Day with their families, but this could lead to conflict for a few beloved characters.

When Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) finds out that she is meant to be preparing ten, she reacts just how you would expect, and tensions between her and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) only rise when a joke about age differences in relationships falls flat.

But her day is made when she goes to the flower shop to look for a bottle of wine and ends up serving Tommy Orpington, a former professional football player who has taken advantage of the situation to purchase his mother a last-minute present.

In another scene, Allison King’s character Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) presents his wife Carla Barlow (Alison King) with a very considerate gift—a bracelet that reads “P loves C.” He is stunned, however, when she tells him what she has purchased for him.

With a movie and a bottle of bubbly, Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew (Peter Ash and Daniel Brocklebank) are looking forward to a quiet Christmas Day. Regretfully, as Todd Grimshaw and Chesney Brown (Gareth Pierce and Sam Aston) bust down the door, they discover more than they had anticipated, which negatively alters their day.

After she has calmed down, Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) gets a video call from Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), who is incarcerated, about her worries that Paul may have fallen and caused the break-in. The family sings Christmas songs together.

Sadly, not everyone is enjoying their Christmas as much as Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges), who feels bad while seeing his family unwrap the little gifts they have.

He becomes even more upset when they give him a watch with an inscription saying he is the finest father ever, but he doesn’t have time to be upset since Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) calls to invite the family to Speed Daal for Christmas dinner.

In another scene, the Platts and Websters have a joyful lunch in the Bistro while Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), Mary Taylor (Patti Clare), and Roy Cropper (David Neilson) clumsily prepare Christmas supper.
