Coronation Street spoilers: Carla Connor devastates Peter Barlow with surprise Christmas gift

It’s nearly time (Picture: ITV)

It has been announced that Chris Gascoyne’s character Peter Barlow will be leaving Coronation Street to take advantage of the sun, sea, and—most importantly—a whole new life as he works on a yacht with a buddy.

Carla had no choice but to accept last week that Peter no longer wanted to live in Weatherfield.

The day Carla was having trouble finding her boyfriend a Christmas gift was when the discovery occurred. Carla printed out something while at Underworld after the news broke, and it turns out that it was a one-way ticket to Spain.

The Weatherfield inhabitants spent much of Christmas Day on Coronation Street thinking back on their year. The episode began with a reminder that Coronation Street works best when it juxtaposes humour with poignant plot points, like as Peter’s departure. A few customers hurried into Dev’s (Jimmi Harkishin) business, only to be yelled at by Evelyn (Maureen Lipman), who had dropped in for a brief visit.

When the conversation shifted to the families’ gifts, Carla wanted a private time to give Peter his.

Peter and Carla entered the garden as the Barlow home was deserted save for a sleeping Ken (played by William Roache) and Bertie.

Carla handed Peter his airline ticket there so he could go with his pal. Peter was happy, but he was also a bit perplexed since he didn’t know where Carla’s was.

Carla politely informed Peter that she would not be joining him on his expedition since she had come to the realisation that they would not be continuing their relationship.

The episode that airs tomorrow will centre on Carla and Peter reflecting on their time spent living in Weatherfield.

After that, Peter would grab his belongings, bid his loved ones farewell, and get ready to leave the cobblestones behind.

“We’re spending two days filming together,” Alison King hinted.

There was enough to discover. Apart from that, however, it was fantastic and so moving that I didn’t even need a tissue for some of the passages. There was no way of predicting what would happen since each time we performed it, I would practically burst into tears at various points during each performance.

Despite not going into great depth about their whole background, it does convey their dynamic as a pair. People seem to like simply talking with them, so it was very great to have that much time to spend with them. It was a true trip and one we really had to get our teeth into, full with emotions. It was quite enjoyable to do those sequences.
