Following the death of father Damon (Robert Beck), Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) and son Rueben have permanently left the community, meaning that Emmerdale has bid farewell to not one, not two, but three characters in its Boxing Day episode.
As viewers are aware, Damon was shot unintentionally by Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) during a fight that broke out after he abducted Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), endangering his life.
Charity, determined not to allow her beloved Mack suffer any more injury, dashed into danger and took the gun away from gangster Damon. As he attempted to take it back, Charity pressed the trigger, setting off a gunshot.
After Damon fell to the ground, several scenes proved that the character had passed away. Even though Chloe had always been frightened of her father, she went ahead and used his passing to try and obtain what she desired.
Chloe threatened to tell the authorities a different story about what she had seen, so she arranged for Mackenzie to give up his rights to his kid and allow Charity to permanently leave the town in exchange for Charity not going to jail.
Despite everything that the three of them had to endure this week, Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson), who doesn’t really like Mack, was taken aback by her sister’s behaviour and was determined to punish Mackenzie and exact revenge.
Charity, on the other hand, was horrified by Chloe’s offer and pushed Mackenzie to decline. But Mack reluctantly accepted Chloe’s harsh demands because he wouldn’t let Charity suffer the consequences of a crime she hadn’t committed.
Mack was given five minutes with his son Reuben before Chloe informed him it was time to go and to mind his own business. She then gave Mack the order to stop talking to his competition for love, Charity, which devastated Mack’s heart.
In heartbreaking circumstances, Charity stood by a crushed Mack as he saw Chloe get into a taxi with Rueben in tow.
As far as Metro.co.uk is aware, Jessie Elland’s portrayal of Chloe is over, and the role has been written out permanently.
In retrospect, Jessie remarked, “I’ve had the best two years of my life playing Chloe and being a part of Emmerdale.” It never became any less weird to be outside the Woolpack in the hamlet or to enter the studios through the stage door over those two years.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been granted this chance and to have been entrusted with such amazing narratives.
“I truly accomplished a lot of things, like having a baby, meeting new family members, pulling off a major prank, getting slapped with soap opera, and even pulling off a classic back of the taxi exit!” all the while collaborating with and picking the brains of extraordinarily gifted individuals that I had grown up admiring on TV.
You’ve probably heard other cast members compare being on Emmerdale to being a part of a large family, and that couldn’t be truer. Some of the most lovely individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting are the actors and staff of Emmerdale; they all helped to make the show feel like a second home to me.
The audience’s response to Chloe and her storylines has been what has made my tenure at Emmerdale even more fulfilling. Meeting show viewers and seeing how much the programme means to them is such a unique experience that always fills me with pride and gratitude for being even a tiny part of something so cherished. I’m really grateful to you for that.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be leaving Emmerdale with lifelong friends and incredible memories, but it’s really hard to put into words how much Emmerdale means to me. It was by no means an easy decision to leave such a wonderful place and such wonderful people.”
