EastEnders is going out on a high note as 2023 comes to a finish, and things won’t slow down when 2024 gets underway.

While Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) is eager to become a mother, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) is thinking back on her painful past with her lost baby Peach.
New Year’s Day
Lauren and Penny decide in Paris that they must go back to Walford because of what happened that evening.
While Cindy makes an effort to get involved in George’s life, Elaine is still having difficulties.
Elaine is taken aback when she sees Cindy questioning George about his life decisions, but as George attempts to clarify, he is visited by his parents, Gloria and Eddie, who arrive out of the blue.
When Zack and Whitney inform Ashton that he would be going to a new foster family, they are inconsolable.
At Peggy’s with Martin, Zack drowns his sorrows as Whitney finds it difficult to bear. Whitney is not amused by Sonia’s attempts to lift her spirits at their little NYE celebration.
One of the adolescents from Walford decides to steal a case of beer from the Minute Mart in order to have a New Year’s Eve party.
But the teenagers are shocked to learn that the stolen beer is alcohol-free when Patrick and Yolande visit to see how they’re doing. For a favour, Yolande consents to keep the theft a secret.
Tuesday January 2
George won’t talk to Elaine about his parents’ visit, which worries her.
Cindy informs Ian that George was adopted while they are at the Beale residence. Gloria is overjoyed to see Gina and Anna again, but Eddie and his oldest grandchild are not getting along. Gloria later tells George a startling revelation.
The social worker who has come to pick Ashton up interrupts Whitney and Zack while they are talking about some unexpected news.
Denzel becomes concerned when it’s implied that Yolande and Pastor Clayton are having an affair in exchange for Yolande’s quiet over the stolen booze from NYE. Yolande gives the Walford adolescents an assignment to deliver church flyers.
In the meanwhile, Penny returns to Walford.
Wednesday January 3
After passing the night on the couch, George wakes up and tells Elaine a falsehood in order to go covertly and meet Cindy. George tells Cindy everything about his adoption at a café. The two make an effort to learn more, but what they discover astounds them.
Later, a sad George finally opens up to Elaine and sobs in her arms after finally disclosing everything.
In an attempt to help Sonia cope with Ashton’s untimely departure, Whitney gives her a photo of Ashton comfortably settling into his new foster home.
Zack and Reiss go for a drink, while Sonia and Whitney go to No. 25.
In another scene, Denzel grudgingly accepts to assist in Pastor Clayton’s soup kitchen, but he purposefully spills hot curry on him after misinterpreting a conversation between the Pastor and Yolande. After the recent occurrences, Penny finds it difficult to cope and has to make a difficult choice.
Thursday January 4
In an attempt to obtain some much-needed answers, George extends an invitation to Gloria and Eddie to dinner.
After a cordial beginning, things quickly spiral out of control as Eddie’s insulting remarks to Gina enrage Cindy.
Later, Gloria gives George some priceless insight into his background during a heart-to-heart conversation.
Whitney breaks down when Yolande interrupts her as she travels to the allotment to see Peach’s tree. Yolande had her own experience with fostering. Following their heart-to-heart conversation, Whitney decides and returns to No. 3B.
