Coronation Street certainly brought the drama on New Year’s Eve, as the ITV soap aired a big return three years after the character in question left the show – with Daisy Midgeley in for a shock
On Sunday, fans of Coronation Street saw a shocking comeback for Daisy Midgeley when a character on the ITV soap opera made a cameo.
After almost four years gone, a character returned amid tensions between Daisy and her ex-husband Daniel Osbourne, and soon after, a twist was revealed. Daisy and Daniel had a recent falling out after he found out about her one-night affair with Ryan Connor.
Daisy wanted to make apologies with her fiancé before 2024 rang in, even if they were separated for Christmas. However, the two got into a fight, and as Daniel rushed out, he ran into someone he knew.
It was soon made public that Daniel had seen Bethany Platt, his ex-girlfriend, who had moved back to Weatherfield after a three-year absence. But then things took a strange turn, and it was soon discovered that the two had shared a bed.
Just as Daisy was getting ready to go see Daniel to sort things out, they lost no time in getting hot and bothered after a few years apart. When she went to his place, however, she got more than she had bargained for since Bethany opened the door while still nude.
Daisy threw Daniel’s apartment keys at him and walked out, crying as she took in the situation, with Daniel seeming to be barely clad as well. Though it was obvious that Bethany was unaware of what was happening, it seems Daniel has moved on from Daisy in favour of his ex-girlfriend.
Actress Lucy Fallon said that her character Bethany, who has been a journalist in London for a while, is concealing a significant secret. Speaking to the Mirror and other media, Lucy said the following about Bethany: “She’s not disclosing the reason why she’s not coming back right away, but there’s something that occurred in London that has sort of compelled her to come back. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to disclose what it is.
She’s keeping her motivation for returning somewhat under wraps. I’m not sure whether I have anything further to say about it.” Speaking further on Bethany’s comeback, she stated: “She’s come a long way. She undoubtedly felt more like a little girl when we last saw her, but she looks more like a lady today.
“I can’t deny that she has adopted a more ‘rock girl’ style of dressing. Despite having matured much, she still upholds the same values and beliefs.” “I think she is causing trouble already, and the way she comes back is a bit dramatic for some people on the street,” Lucy said.
“One of David Platt’s statements is, ‘She’s been back for five minutes, and already she’s causing problems!'” Though it’s not intended, I believe she is [creating difficulties]. She hasn’t returned to make trouble for others.”
