An EastEnders plotline about child farming has coincided with the arrival in Albert Square of George Knight’s (Colin Salon) adoptive parents.

George was busy on Christmas Day in the bar getting ready for Keanu’s (Danny Walters) and Sharon’s (Letitia Dean) wedding reception.

The entrance of Cindy (Michelle Collins), who extended an invitation for a drink at the Beale residence, cut him off.

Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) joined them, and when the talk veered into gifts, George felt uncomfortable.

The arrival of George Knight’s (Colin Salon) adoptive parents in Albert Square has coincided with an EastEnders subplot about child farming.

On Christmas Day, George was hard at work in the bar setting up for the wedding celebration of Keanu (Danny Walters) and Sharon (Letitia Dean).

He was interrupted by Cindy’s (Michelle Collins) appearance as she invited him to stay for a drink at the Beale house.

After Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) joined them, George became uneasy as the conversation turned to gifts.

Cindy returned later to stir up more problems, approaching George in the barrel shop.

She questioned whether George and Elaine were happy together, but when the mysterious woman showed there, she became suspicious.

Gloria and Eddie will reveal some huge news to George (Picture: BBC)

George was confronted by his parents, Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) and Eddie (Christopher Fairbank), back at the bar when Cindy had informed him he had guests.

Gloria and Eddie’s arrival ushers in a new chapter in George’s life. He will learn that he was adopted through a practice known as “farming,” in which parents sought to adopt young people by advertising their children for financial gain.

George will discover something about his origins as a result of this life-altering discovery, which makes him doubt the identity his adoptive parents have instilled in him.

“EastEnders has a rich history of telling challenging yet truthful stories which reflect past and present events,” Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw remarked of the plot.

As George Knight learns the real reason he was adopted, his narrative will compel him to reconsider the identity his parents gave him when he was a youngster.

In order to guarantee that the plot is treated as delicately and truthfully as feasible, it was essential that we collaborated with specialists and individuals who had firsthand agricultural knowledge.
