Drama is expected to return to Weatherfield with Damon Hay’s (Ciaran Griffiths) return to Coronation Street, and it seems that Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) has a lot to fear.
After learning about Damon’s extramarital affair with Sarah (Tina O’Brien), Adam devised a scheme to get rid of him. He made it much too unsafe for Damon to remain in the neighbourhood by turning his own criminal connections against him.
According to Ciaran Griffiths, fans will be happy to see Damon return to see how he responds to Adam’s actions.
“I believe he still has a lot of potential. It will be interesting to see what happens with Sarah and Adam, particularly after Adam turned on him previously and made him do a runner.” It will be interesting to see how that one turns out,’ he thought to himself.
This time, Damon exhibits a more balanced side as he prioritises getting to know Sarah while also remembering what Adam did.
Ciaran informed us that “he’s obviously been thinking about Sarah every day for the last few months and wants to scratch that itch,” adding that “he’s definitely obsessed with trying to get her back.”
But he has to make up for the harm that Adam done to him. Without having the chance to bid Sarah go properly, Damon was compelled to leave. He was only able to leave Sarah a voicemail, which Adam found and erased. Although Damon isn’t aware of it yet, Adam’s situation will drastically worsen once he does.
“There’s a score to settle; he wants to make Adam pay. He’s not willing to leave it where Adam’s got one over on him.” Damon wants to win once again. And when Sarah discovers that Adam was the one who performed the dirty work and he didn’t simply vanish into thin air, maybe it will provide him a way in with her.
Damon’s resentment of Adam grows when he learns that Adam erased the voicemail and learns the devastating information that Sarah was carrying his kid when he left but that the baby was lost. Normally, it would indicate trouble for Adam, but maybe Damon has evolved?
“He goes in there with that mindset, and he comes back 100% intent on punishing Adam and getting rid of him,” Ciaran added. But maybe this time, Damon will show us a more compassionate side. Maybe that’s what sets Damon apart from Harvey—he’s not simply a thug; he has a heart.
In relation to Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), we will see more of him because Damon pays him a visit in jail.
Ciaran said, “There’s definitely mileage there to see will Damon get drawn in by Harvey’s criminal life again. The last time he was on the street, he had Harvey beaten up in prison.”
Harvey is attempting to use blackmail to coerce Damon into doing favours, but Damon says he no longer wants to since he has changed. Although Damon thinks, “Let’s call it quits, you do you and I’ll do me, see you later,” Harvey makes things more complicated. Whether he’s inside or not, he has some influence.
Ciaran informed us that this may endanger Sarah and her family members.
Damon first believes he has Harvey beat since Harvey is inside, but he quickly learns that Harvey can still pull strings regardless of where Harvey is. This is because Harvey is inside while Damon is outside.
“Harvey can still reach people, especially the ones that Damon cares about the most, whether he’s locked up or not.”
