Michelle Keegan has opened up about her time on Coronation Street, admitting that she felt ’embarrassed’ after being voted Sexiest Female 12 times during her time on the ITV soap
Michelle Keegan has said that she was “embarrassed” after winning the title of Sexiest Female on Coronation Street twelve times.
The 36-year-old actress has said that, despite being a part of several dramatic tales, she felt “frustrated” that her acting abilities were sometimes disregarded because of her attractiveness.
Though Michelle wrote stories about abortion, murder, and surrogacy when she was living on the cobbles as Tina McIntyre, it wasn’t these that brought her recognition.
She said in a recent interview: “It felt awkward. Since I was involved in several complex narratives… It was quite annoying when the award for “sexiest girl” was given at the conclusion.”
“The funny thing is, I’m not sexy!” the Brassic actress said in her conversation with The Observer. I was never attractive! My pals have always made fun of it. I shiver even at the mention of the term.”
Along with Joanna Lumley and Richard Armitage, Michelle most recently featured in the Netflix adaption of Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once.
Joanna, who plays the mother of Maya’s deceased husband, pushed Michelle, who plays the unhappy widow Maya Stern, to be “more feisty” in some situations, Michelle said.
Michelle informed the media ahead of the premiere of the episode, “They were so much fun.” After all, you don’t tell Joanna Lumley to “F** off” every day. That was really tense.”
“I was immediately put at ease by her.” She really is a legend. I became a little more feisty since she is so amazing at portraying that fierce character.
“But I wouldn’t swear during rehearsals. All I would say is “the F word.” I’d swear on a take, but not in front of her during rehearsals. I was unable to perform.”
Michelle plays Maya Stern in the suspenseful film. After her husband is killed, she learns startling facts, and the story takes a turn for the worst when she discovers her husband’s reported death on the baby monitor.
On New Year’s Day, the programme debuted on Netflix worldwide. Michelle posted this joyfully on Instagram: “Currently watching. every one of the eight episodes. Netflix everywhere.

On his Instagram Story, her spouse Mark Wright gave the series high marks, writing, “Unbelievable show, unbelievably proud.” @michkeegan, you really are amazing.”
