In Coronation Street, Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was foiled when his car wouldn’t start, preventing him from going to another town to pick up a Christmas gift for Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman). Soon after, Cassie (Claire Sweeney) “borrowed” a Porsche that was being maintained at the shop and drove Roy to run his errand.
However, she found a large damage on the Porsche when she got it back, which she later attributed to Abi (Sally Carman) using her tool cart carelessly.
This incident set off a series of events for Abi, who was made to take the blame while Kevin (Michael Le Vell) offered Cassie a permanent position at the garage.
Although Cassie’s standing with Kevin was improving, the same could not be said for his views towards Abi, particularly after Abi’s apparent negligence caused the Porsche’s owner to refuse to pay Kevin’s bill, causing him to lose money.
Claire Sweeney warned us that Cassie may be pursuing Abi’s life in its entirety and that there may be more to her activities than just trying to save her own skin.
“I find it thrilling to perform because I recognise aspects of the movie Single White Female, which I adore,” she remarked.

Abi and Cassie have both struggled with drug addiction, and Claire can definitely draw comparisons.
She declared, “It’s interesting because Cassie wanting Abi’s life is not so far-fetched.” It’s not as though she’s staring at someone with a whole different life, such as Real Housewives, or even someone who has never made a mistake, like Maria (Samia Longchambon). Abi is someone who has essentially lived her entire life.
Would Cassie, however, actually try to kidnap Abi’s husband? Claire seemed to think she would.
She maintained, “You see so many similarities between Abi and Cassie.” “It’s understandable why she starts to think she could have what Abi has and even begins to feel something for Kevin.”
The following is one of Claire’s declared goals for her persona in 2024: “My new year’s wish for Cassie would be to get a snog and a bit of lippie.” Might Kevin be the fortunate one to receive the snog? What impact would that have on his friendship with Abi?
Claire maintained that there is always a purpose for Cassie’s actions, no matter how bad it gets. However, she would not speculate as to where the tale may go from here.
“She does some terrible things, but I always try to find redeeming qualities in Cassie and reasons why she’s doing it,” the woman remarked.
“I’m confident that her erratic behaviour is far from over.”
