After revealing that she had planted drugs on her cousin Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) finds herself in a lot of danger on EastEnders.
But, Scott Maslen’s character Jack Branning, the father, thinks he can get them both out as long as Penny divulges information about Juliette, the mob leader.
After speaking with Peter Beale (Thomas Law), Jack learned that Juliette was involved in Penny’s crime. To Penny’s dismay, Jack quickly informed his colleagues of this knowledge.
Penny was hesitant to cooperate with Jack’s suggestion to “grass on her boss” since, as she pointed out, the last time someone she knew crossed a criminal, she ended up in a wheelchair.
Penny was hit by a vehicle that belonged to a drug dealer Jack had arrested when she was a little girl.
Jack paid a drug baron to get tips that led to the dealer’s imprisonment even though he was innocent.
The dealer purposefully crashed his vehicle into Penny and her mother Selina as they were waiting at a bus stop, severing Penny’s spinal chord in the process, all in an attempt to get vengeance on Jack for his unjust incarceration.
Given her past experiences, it is sense that Penny was hesitant to accept the offer Jack was making.
When she countered that she wasn’t last time, Jack reassured her that she would be safe and that he wouldn’t let her down again.
Penny looked confused as Jack pleaded with her to accept the bargain so that she and Lauren could go free.
Will she turn on Juliette to avoid spending a lengthy time in prison for both herself and Lauren?
And will Jack be able to honour his word to protect them if she does?
