Coronation Street fans spot the same Asha and Aadi Alahan blunder as someone ‘can’t do their maths’

The ITV soap’s twins have been caught up a fresh age riddle

Supporters of Coronation Street were quick to point out the identical mistakes made by Asha and Aadi Alahan, accusing someone of being unable to handle arithmetic. On Tuesday night, January 9, on the first journey of the week to Weatherfield, Dev Alahan was seen questioning daughter Asha about her impending birthday.

As she and her twin brother Aadi prepared to turn 19, the local businessman seemed eager to celebrate the occasion and she informed him she was looking for something a little more’sophisticated’. She informed her dad she’d talk to Aadi about a family supper while she attempted to finish her job and he carried on talking.

Nina Lucas, Asha’s girlfriend, showed up to the home shortly after, and before long, she started talking about the impending festivities as well. Asha joyfully said that they “could do” when Nina asked if she wanted to travel away for the occasion, but she also mentioned that she had previously agreed to do something with her dad.

Though Corrie viewers were confused because they thought Asha and Aadi were a year younger than the soap opera’s storyline indicated, they were perplexed by all the talk about their impending 19th birthday. The twins are over eighteen years old, having been born on January 13, 2006.

Talk of the Street, also known as @corriepodcast, reposted a Corrie post that said, “This week marks the Alahan twins’ 19th birthday! Who can recall their own birthdate? “#Corrie,” he said, “Yes! That was 2006, wasn’t it? Hold on, a moment! #corrie.

“Err, @itvcorrie, can you explain how they’re 19 if they were born 18 years ago?” inquired @MikeBAGleeson. #Corrie. With a “Yep,” @matt_johnson_89 retorted, “I remember watching this in 2006, 18 years ago.” @miss1katy said: “Why have they been moved up a year when we surely all remember them actually being born in 2006 haha they’re 18 now not 19!!”

“Who remembers that they’re actually 18?” said @emma_x_lou. @jules1965 wrote: “They’re not good at maths.” prior to @millieconway94 saying: “They gave the twins an extra year of age. When the on-screen twins celebrated their 16th birthday in 2021, the same age conundrum arose: “Factually, they should be turning 18, but storyline wise, they’re 19.”

Sunita learned that Dev had surreptitiously fathered additional children before she gave birth to the twins. After their 2010 divorce, Sunita moved back in with Dev and the family moved into 7 Coronation Street. Sunita had been granted custody of the twins throughout their marriage, and the couple had resided in Bramhall.

After an arsonist named Karl Munro disconnected Sunita’s breathing tubes during a fire at the Rovers Return in 2013, the character, portrayed by Shobna Gulati, sadly passed away in the hospital. Jimmi Harkishin’s character, shop owner Dev, battled to raise the twins by himself until their nice neighbour Mary Taylor offered to take care of them.

After Zennon Ditchett, who had portrayed Aadi since 2009, decided to quit the programme at the end of 2020 in order to concentrate on his A Level studies, Adam Hussain assumed the role again in 2021. Since the actress was just six years old, Tanisha Gorey has portrayed Asha.
