Coronation Street spoilers: Lauren Bolton breaks down over her secret boyfriend amid worrying mystery

Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) in Coronation Street has previously made a great deal out of having a wealthy lover who has supposedly lavished her with costly presents.

However, this guy has never really shown up, leaving viewers—as well as Lauren’s friends—to worry about his identity and if he really exists.

In future episodes, Sabrina (Luana Santos) will don her Miss Marple hat in an attempt to solve the mystery and get Lauren to divulge more information about her hidden partner.

Sabrina observes that Lauren’s grin disappears when Max Turner (Paddy Bever) extends an invitation for tea to her, and suggests that Lauren also bring her unnamed lover.

Later, when Sabrina and Lauren are in the café, she asks a lot of questions about the mysterious guy, but Lauren doesn’t provide clear answers and seems uncomfortable when Sabrina suggests that they should all get together.

Sabrina confides in Max about her misgivings, asking him if he’s seen that the one topic that would always get Lauren quiet is asking her about her boyfriend.

Concern grows for Lauren (Picture: ITV)

He makes the decision to approach Lauren about it and politely probes her, but all he does is aggravate her. Telling him to leave the café, she fights back the tears.

Max extends an invitation to Lauren to have lunch at the bistro with him, Sabrina, and Gav (Noah Olaoye) in an attempt to make apologies. She now informs him that she has broken up with her lover.

While on the street, Max witnesses Lauren conversing with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), who puts a consoling touch on her shoulder.

Later, a fully dressed Lauren shows up for lunch.

What is happening? What is really going on with the hidden boyfriend? Is he genuine? Who is this guy?

There are a lot of unanswered mysteries, but one thing is certain: Lauren has a lot more to offer, as Corrie producer Iain MacLeod said.

“They’ll now explore all the different elements of Cait’s range, as in, she’s quite punchy, she’s quite funny, we’ll see her get to be in quite romantic set of stories, and she will continue to be quite troubled. We’ll see a complexity to her character that maybe we weren’t aware of.”
