When Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) puts on her yellow Marigolds and begins cleaning the kitchen—something she’s been doing a lot of lately—you know she’s stressed out on Emmerdale. In fact, ever since she murdered a guy.
Before Christmas, Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) asked her father for assistance in removing herself and her kid from Mackenzie Boyd’s (Lawrence Robb) care.
However, because her father turned out to be the villainous Damon “Harry” Harris (Robert Beck), his plan to get rid of Mackenzie was to beat him until he was completely black, tie him up in an abandoned warehouse, and then threaten to murder him.
When Charity arrived, Harry was pointing a pistol at her lover. She hurried to stop him, but in the scuffle, she accidentally shot Harry dead.
Charity finds it difficult to accept that she took a life, even though Mack would have most likely died if she hadn’t done anything and the police were positive that Harry’s death was an accident.
Mack is having difficulties as well, and by keeping things quiet and attempting to seem normal, the two of them are making things worse.
After a restless night, Charity snaps at her son Moses (Arthur Cockroft) in an attempt to relieve some of the burden.
Later, when Moses is caught fighting, she receives a call from his school. Charity is appalled that Harry’s death is having an effect on both her and her son’s lives when he discloses that there are allegations around the school that she is a killer.
Meanwhile, Moira (Natalie J. Robb) is taken aback when she learns that her own son Isaac (Bobby Dunsmoir) was the one who sparked the rumours at the school. Moira is worried when Charity panics after hearing a loud noise, even though she had hurried to see her to apologise.
She extends a hand of consolation to her sister-in-law, but Charity panics and throws her against the wall in sheer agony.
