In recent scenes on Coronation Street, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) found herself in a difficult situation after being arrested for attacking Terry, the abuser of dogs, at his home.
Even after learning about Evelyn’s incarceration, viewers would understand that Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) was the real culprit, even if she chose not to tell her family about it.
In more recent moments, Evelyn was obviously still carrying a heavy weight after her arrest—she declined to have lunch with her daughter Cassie.
Evelyn, who was suspicious, questioned Cassie’s whereabouts for getting the money to buy supper. Cassie seemed to be happy about her work promotion, but in reality, the money was money she had stolen from Terry.
Fortunately, Evelyn soon learned that another witness had reported to the police that they had seen Evelyn leaving Terry’s home on the day of the attack. This meant that, because Terry’s attack took place indoors, Evelyn was not at fault.
Cassie was playing shady, though, as PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) made it apparent that the inquiry was still underway.
Cassie promised Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) some money to keep her quiet when Hope was later discovered by Cassie using the stolen funds, but Hope did not waste any time in informing her sister Ruby (Billie Naylor) that Granny Cassie was feeling festive and wanted to purchase gifts.
All of this was revealed when Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) saw Ruby purchasing online and told Evelyn that Cassie had not got a wage boost at all from the garage.
Evelyn approached Cassie after realising that she was the one responsible for Terry’s attack.
Evelyn refused to listen to Cassie’s explanations and insisted that she would never change.
