Is this the strongest indication yet that Emmerdale’s Tom (James Chase) is a wrong man and that Belle (Eden Taylor Draper) is in danger, as fans have been suspecting for weeks, if not months?
Since the beginning of Tom and Belle’s relationship, his behavior has been a bit of a mystery, but his most recent acts will only make things worse.
There are a lot of theories circulating that Belle and Tom are going to have a horrific abuse plot, and his actions after their proposal provide support to these theories.
Tom’s actions with Belle have sometimes been quite concerning. From his harsh response to her assistance when his vehicle was taken, to the moment he slammed her into a coffee table and injured her head.
Each event has been dismissed as an accident or a result of his being under stress, but the fact that Belle has kept them a secret raises suspicions.
He responded to her criticism of him by saying, “I thought you could take a joke,” in an attempt to make her feel less confident. She had called him out for trivializing his failed proposal in front of the Dingles.
Even if it has been mild, his dominating behavior doesn’t appear to have been an anomaly.
Belle was horrified to learn that, despite it being her news as well, he had shared her proposal widely on social media without even talking to her.
Not to mention Belle’s first feelings of pressure to pop the question. Following her well-reasoned rejection of his first proposal, she developed an obsession with the notion that he wouldn’t want to marry her until she could demonstrate her devotion to him right away.
After so many subtly strange things have happened to Belle, she is about to be even more shocked when Tom tells her that he has already reserved their wedding date without ever approaching her.
