Emmerdale star Paula Lane reveals why she took new soap role eight years after Coronation Street’s Kylie

Eight years after Kylie’s untimely death, Paula Lane, who won over hearts throughout the country as Kylie Platt on Coronation Street, will soon be seen on Emmerdale.

The actress will portray Ella, a character who befriends Dales star Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) right away.

Paula said, “She’s a good friend to have.” And they simply feel this spark right away. And from there, it progresses.

Paula said that although though she has just recently begun, she immediately feels at home in Emmerdale because the set is near her hometown.

I think I’m going to fit right in here. It suits my family’s needs. Our main office is in Hebden Bridge. Therefore, that’s excellent acting. Even simply arriving into the town makes me feel very much at home.

So, in order for me to go forward, it will be crucial that I build a whole new persona that is quite unlike anything that people have seen in the last eight years. I know, it seems unbelievable. I believe that enough time has passed to be able to make a change and stand out from the crowd.

Paula continued by stating that it was appropriate for her to take on a new soap opera role at this time, given that she had left Corrie eight years before.

I always think it’s best to just follow whatever is presented to you. And it’s been a very fantastic seven years. I mean, in addition to raising my family and doing guest parts on various TV shows, I’ve done a ton of theater and traveled a lot.

It is thus, in my opinion, appropriate to give the audience a little break when you are such a well-known figure. Furthermore, I believe that I have personally changed as well. Thus, I believe that quite an amount of time has gone. And it seems healthy to me.

Paula claimed that she was simply born into the role of Ella and didn’t even need to try out.

“I believe I made it happen.” And then there was a talk, and from that a seed was sown, and that’s when the magic occurs. Thus, I believe it to have been only a minor coincidence. Still, it landed in my lap. And for that, I am very appreciative and thankful. And like I already said, all I want to do is the best I can.
