‘Absolutely not!’ EastEnders fans horrified by shocking new ‘couple’

The possibility that Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) would fall in love once Phil Mitchell’s adultery is revealed in future scenes has shocked viewers of EastEnders.

Kat will be shocked to learn that Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) told Queen Vic that Phil had an affair with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit).

After dropping the bombshell, Nish offers Kat a rent-free apartment to reside in and, after a confrontation with Phil at the Vic, invites her out on a date.

Initially, she tells him it’s too soon, but Kat goes to face him when Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) revealed what he had done to Eve Unwin (Heather Peace).

Fans are outraged by her choice to go to the date, but she quickly warms up to him.

User @EE_Kalfie said on Twitter/X that they “weren’t ready” to see these moments, and Joanna felt it was “rubbish” that Kat would choose Nish over Stacey.

Other fans voiced their worries that Kat’s persona was being “ruined,” implying that she would never decide to go out with someone like Nish—especially after Stacey had warned her to stay away.

Tas noted how “random” this combination seemed, and user @KitKatSlater clarified that Kat would never “buy Nish’s narrative,” despite @emflem01 labeling the anecdote “an offence.”

Others, however, drew attention to Kat’s past self-destructive behavior at trying times, raising the possibility that her choice to date Nish was really in line with her personality—especially considering her past relationships with Andy Hunter, Michael Moon, Derek Branning, and Phil Mitchell.

Other fans are scared for Kat’s safety and worried about the possible course this tale will go since they believe that Kat may be tricked into going with abusive Nish.

During their marriage, Nish subjected his wife Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) to physical and psychological abuse, and his dominating behavior rendered her utterly dependent on him.

Could Suki be planning to do the same to Kat now that he’s managed to escape at last?

Others questioned if Nish’s choice to date Kat had a hidden agenda due to his cunning nature; Ryan, a Twitter/X user, said that it may have been a “business move.”

Ian countered that Nish was already beginning to become suspicious and that it may be an effort to learn more about what The Six really did on Christmas Day.

It is currently unknown what Kat and Nish’s futures hold, and it is also unknown whether their date will be fruitful.

Will there be a romantic relationship between these two, or will it cease as soon as it started?
