In recent scenes on Coronation Street, Sam Robertson’s character Adam Barlow has crossed a line when he makes a fatal bargain with murderer Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) in an attempt to get vengeance on Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths).
After Damon’s affair with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) became public, it wreaked devastation in Adam’s life, and Adam hasn’t been able to move on from it.
Adam interrupted the family supper, where Sarah was telling the other Platts about her new connection, by yelling about Damon’s previous visit to see Harvey in jail.
Even though Damon had come to inform Harvey that he was giving up on his life of crime, Adam refused to believe Damon and made it plain that he did not want him sharing a house with little Harry.
Adam was upset and ready for retribution when Sarah angrily shouted back that Harry wasn’t his son, frustrating him.
Adam decided to take things into his own hands by setting up a visit to meet Harvey personally since Sarah was unable to let dangerous Damon go.
Adam told Harvey in the jail that he would do whatever it took—legal or not—to clear Harvey of his murder accusation.
He demanded that Harvey do whatever it needed to get rid of Damon in return.
Harvey originally expressed doubt, noting that Damon seemed to be adamant about staying on Coronation Street, but Adam suggested that he find a means to frighten him away.
Adam went back out on the street, and Sarah immediately came up to him, saying she was sorry for what she had said before and that Adam would always be Harry’s father.
When Adam got back to his apartment, Harvey had finally decided on Adam’s proposition.
When Adam questioned, he admitted that he was in on the arrangement but would not elaborate on his plans for getting rid of Damon.
But he was quite clear that if Adam fulfilled his end of the agreement, he would owe him a great deal.
Adam said he understood without any doubt. Will he later regret what he decided?
