Emmerdale spoilers: Rhona Goskirk faces the most agonising goodbye in sad scenes

Rhona (Zoe Henry) had been deluding herself into believing that she would be able to keep baby Ivy, even after she and Marlon (Mark Charnock) developed a relationship in Emmerdale. But her life is about to fall apart with a one phone call.

Despite everyone’s objections, Rhona has let herself to grow closer to baby Ivy and, over time, has begun to feel more and more like the child’s mother.

Mary first disapproved of Rhona’s emotional relationship to Ivy. However, spending so much time with the infant soon caused Mary to have unexpected sentiments as well, as Gus pulled a fast one and left the family to deal. And in a development that nobody anticipated, Marlon gave in.

Rhona is about to enjoy her new, ideal little family when she gets a call from Gus, who is eager to go back to being a parent.

Sensible Rhona, who was unprepared for the call, moves fast to persuade him not to return until he is fully prepared. Rhona uses deceptive methods to prevent Gus from returning, which is a bad look for her.

According to actress Zoe Henry, who spoke with Metro.co.uk, “She’s really put him off.” Because he stated, “I’ve been seeing a counsellor and they said I’ve got to be 100% strong,” she was preying on his fears. “Yeah, and if you’re not, you’ll just set yourself right back again, and you have to prioritize Ivy,” she responds.

After persuading him not to return, she keeps their chat to herself.

Rhona is touched to see Marlon adoring and connecting with Ivy, which only serves to reinforce her decision to go forward.

However, in the heat of the moment, Rhona checks herself and admits to Marlon that she has been in contact with Gus, telling her husband—who is shocked—that her delaying tactics are reasonable.

Another dose of reality is delivered to her by Mary (Louise Jamieson), who informs her daughter that Ivy will be departing shortly and that it’s time to say goodbye since she has no legal claim to her.

Rhona, overcome with panic and a renewed disregard for everyone, goes to see Ethan (Emile John) to seek guidance in obtaining custody.

But Gus’s unexpected arrival takes everyone off guard. When Rhona discovers the truth about their correspondence and is confronted with the falsehoods she has told her family, she is left speechless and shocked. Marlon is feeling betrayed again.

Regarding Rhona’s next maneuver, Zoe said, “It’s pretty drastic [laughs].” She goes all out, but I haven’t read the scripts yet since we haven’t received them yet. Then, more heartache ahead, huh?
