Since the tragic automobile accident that claimed the life of her twin brother Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) on New Year’s Eve in Emmerdale, Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) has maintained that Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) was really behind the wheel of the vehicle.
In order for Wendy (Susan Cookson), Heath, and Angel to go to Hotten for a party, Cathy borrowed her automobile. When viewers saw Cathy driving, the other two were berating her for moving too slowly, and Heath was telling her that one of them ought to be driving.
Heath was dead when Wendy and Bob (Tony Audenshaw) got to the site after the automobile had collided. It was unclear who was at the wheel at the time of the collision, however, since Cathy and Angel had already exited the vehicle.
When Cathy claimed that she was the driver, Angel denied it to the police. However, after Heath’s burial, under the weight of her guilt, she broke and admitted to Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) that Angel was really the driver at the time of the collision.
In the meanwhile, it’s clear that Bob has been grieving the loss of his son, and his conviction that Cathy was to blame has further exacerbated his loss.
In the next episodes, the King family will come together to support Angel and make sure she stays out of problems with the law, but Nicola is uncomfortable with the idea since she can see how much Bob is going through.
When Angel can no longer handle the stress of having to live with this massive deception and see the suffering it is causing Cathy, Bob, and Brenda (Lesley Dunlop), she hurries over to the B&B.
When she discovers April (Amelia Flanagan), Brenda, Cathy, and Liam (Jonny McPherson) present, she sobs and admits what transpired.
She then officially confesses at the police station and is placed under custody for driving dangerously and causing death.
Angel can’t even begin to imagine what may come next. Is she going to jail or prison?
