The couple are expecting their third child together after suffering heartbreaking miscarriages
The fantastic news that Coronation Street actor Sam Aston and his wife Briony are expecting their third child was recently announced, and he kept fans informed with some personal photos of their prenatal journey so far. In November of last year, Sam, who has been in the ITV serial opera as Chesney Brown since 2003, revealed that they were going to be welcoming a new member into their family.
In 2023, he posted a video update on Instagram that chronicled his family’s amazing year, along with peeks into his pregnancy. Briony, who is due to give birth in the spring, showcased her burgeoning baby bulge in a photo where she stood nude in front of the mirror.
Sam, 30, also posted a scan from the hospital and the pregnancy test that first provided the good news. Despite being ‘thrilled’ to meet their child, the couple has been candid about the happy news being “bitter sweet” since they had been expecting twins.
They said, Alright! Due to “Vanishing Twin Syndrome,” in which one of the kids stops developing and the mother’s body consumes the embryo and tissue, they had lost one of the infants. We were happy and grateful since we had always desired a healthy child, according to Briony. Afterwards, we began to consider the possibility of having two.
She added that they were ‘grateful’ for their new child but had questioned “what could have been”. Briony, a trainee midwife, has been open about the couple’s previous heartbreak as she explained how she had suffered two miscarriages in four months last year “in the interest of breaking the taboo”.
She told fans on social media: “This is a difficult thing to share, but in the interest of breaking the taboo, I’m miscarrying again, the second time in four months… it’s heartbreaking and it’s unfair, BUT I’m not seeking sympathy, I feel well supported and want others to feel supported too. And that’s why I wanted to post this today, because having people you can talk to and receiving comfort from those who have been through something similar makes the world of difference.
She continued: “In fact I feel the opposite of alone, I feel held and heard and I hope that by continuing these difficult conversations about miscarriage and pregnancy loss we open the door for others who will sadly experience loss too.”

Sam married Briony in 2019. They have two children together, three-year-old son Sonny and 18-month-old daughter Daisy.
