Since Jane Hazlegrove’s character Bernie Winter was sentenced to jail, a great deal has transpired on Coronation Street.
The revelation by Paul (Peter Ash) to Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) that he wishes to take his life when the time comes, and Billy’s agreement to assist him and not let his partner to suffer against his choice, was the most significant development.
Although Paul and Billy haven’t yet revealed this devastating turn of events to their family, Bernie may visit the apartment in future episodes and discover her son’s secret.
She orders Paul’s PA, Moses, to take some time off and gets to work thoroughly cleaning the whole space.
Paul, however, becomes pale and becomes concerned when Bernie unlocks the cabinet that hides his supply of Benzos.
Later in the week, Paul spends a night in the run-down RV with Gemma and Bernie, suggesting he’s been able to buy himself some time.
As Bernie drives into a layby and takes out a road map, Paul and Gemma worry whether she’s lost.
Concerned about Paul’s whereabouts, Billy attempts to contact him back in Weatherfield.
Bernie, in the meanwhile, pulls over in the middle of a field and tells Paul and Gemma that she really has no idea where to go to find the campground. They’re stuck in the mud when she turns on the engine!
Billy discovers the Benzo pills are gone when he returns to the apartment and opens the kitchen cabinet.
When Paul’s phone eventually rings in the RV, Gemma answers to hear Billy pleading with Paul not to take the medications since it’s way too soon.
Is this the time when Paul tells Bernie and Gemma the truth?
