Coronation Street star Chris Fountain says goodbye to ‘best mate’ in heartbreaking post after death of loved one

In the wake of his grandfather’s passing, former Coronation Street actor Chris Fountain, who referred to his grandfather as his “best mate,” sent an emotional tribute.

The Tommy Duckworth actor acknowledged the death of a close relative at the beginning of this year.

With a photo of himself and his grandfather, he inscribed, “Goodnight, old friend.”

Then, the former soap opera star emoji-followed it with a shattered heart.

Chris just made a comeback on Instagram to honour his grandfather. He posted several photos of the “real Yorkshire man,” one of which showed him walking along a beach with Chris giving him a piggyback ride and another of him eating an ice cream sundae.

“As I’m sure some of you are aware, my best friend, my grandfather, sadly passed away on January 3rd, after a courageous three-year battle with lung cancer,” he said. He bravely battled it, even though I never mentioned it when I shared our adventures on my blog. He was surrounded by his family as he slept soundly in his own bed and without any discomfort.

Chris expressed how close he was to his grandparents by saying, “I can’t put into words how much this loss has affected me and my family.” We have been close friends through thick and thin since the day I was born, and I am already really feeling the void he has left behind.

“Despite my heartbreak, I find great comfort in the fact that we have spent the last few years creating memories and going on various adventures together.”

The actor continued by describing his grandfather as having a “wicked dry sense of humour” and a “very kind heart.”

Last year, Chris spoke about his recovery following a mini-stroke (Picture: ITV/Shutterstock)

“I will never forget you and the countless times we shared,” he said. a decent dude. a decent companion. Without his advice, I wouldn’t be the guy I am today, and I will always be appreciative.

As bizarre as it may seem, I smiled the most of the time while listening to the celebrant discuss his life during his burial a few days ago. Now he’s with my grandmother. Whatever it may be.

Chris ended the message with the simple words, “Goodnight, old friend ❤️.”

One year after experiencing a mini-stroke in August of last year, Chris thought back on the experience and how much his body had altered.

He said on social media, “Life can change in an instant. I’ve had to make a lot of changes, but things have gotten so much better.”

“Live life to the fullest, be as optimistic as you can, and never give up, no matter how difficult things get.”
