The absence of beloved Emmerdale character Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) at Heath Hope’s (Sebastian Dowling) funeral last week baffled many.
After an automobile accident at the beginning of the year, Heath passed away. After weeks of speculation, it is officially confirmed that Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes), not Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling), was behind the wheel of the car when it crashed.
The people of the community came together on Thursday, January 18, to bid Heath farewell.
Fans couldn’t help but notice Brenda was missing from the very emotional episode, which featured characters like Cathy, Eric (Chris Chittell), and Bob (Tony Audenshaw) making their way down Main Street behind the burial vehicle.
The audience was perplexed by the abrupt reversal, since Brenda had been so actively engaged in the aftermath of Heath’s death, when a short exchange of conversation earlier in the episode confirmed Brenda was unwell and couldn’t attend the burial.
One Twitter/X user asked, “Why wasn’t Brenda at the funeral? She was his stepmum?”
“Where was Brenda, how poorly to miss her sort of son’s village funeral, just up the road!” remarked someone more, echoing the bewilderment.
Brenda was still missing from Friday’s ITV soap opera episode, which mostly concentrated on Charity (Emma Atkins) and the King family, who are still attempting to figure out what to do next after Angelica revealed her truth about the vehicle accident.
Angelica revealed to Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) shortly after the burial that she was behind the wheel when Heath passed away. The adolescent was concealing the truth, but her guilt began to mount when she observed Cathy and Bob having a tearful chat through the window of her bedroom, and after that, the funeral began.
Since Heath was Brenda’s stepson, it was crucial that she was involved in the events after his passing. As a result, many people are expecting that Heath will make a comeback soon after her abrupt absence last week.
