After Peter (Chris Gascoyne) departed and Bobby (Jack Carroll), the nephew of Carla Connor (Alison King), arrived on Coronation Street, Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) felt a little bit like an afterthought.
Simon was left wondering what to do with his life when Peter said Weatherfield farewell. While working shifts at Underworld, Simon often spends the time by getting wasted at bars because he lacks focus.
The entrance of Carla’s nephew hasn’t helped Simon either. Even though Bobby is a jokester and loves to get into mischief, meeting a cousin Carla didn’t know about has made her cease spending a lot of time and energy checking on Simon.
Next, hungover, Simon discovers that he spilled his drink over all of Nick’s (Ben Price) documents and hastily buries the proof.
Simon successfully evades Nick’s hunt for the documents by printing them out once again and returning them to Nick at the Bistro.
Thanks to the assistance, Leanne sets out to track down Carla and attempts to persuade her to return Simon’s employment. She contends that Simon needs guidance since Peter’s absence has created a significant void in his life.
Leanne’s efforts don’t seem to be enough, however, for later in the week Simon discloses that Carla has replaced Bobby at the plant.
Ignoring Nick’s remarks, Leanne gives Simon a position at the Bistro because she wants to take action.
But just as he gets going, Bobby stops by and recommends a lock-in. Will Simon accept and take the chance of ruining this job before he’s even started?
This development precedes Alex Bain’s departure from the programme in his role as Simon Barlow.
Will Simon leave Weatherfield to start over now that he seems to be at a standstill?
or go further into a spiral and get himself into greater trouble?
