Corrie, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks stars will reveal their lives behind the scenes.
Ellie Leach, actress of Coronation Street, is getting back together with her co-stars from the soap opera for a new reality programme called Drama Queens.
According to The Daily Star, the actress, who portrayed Faye Windass on the programme until her departure in May 2023, will be accompanied by Brooke Vincent, her real-life cousin and former co-star who portrayed Sophie Webster, and Lucy Fallon, who just made a comeback to the programme as Bethany Platt.
Drama Queens, which debuted earlier this month, will provide viewers an inside peek into the actual lives of a number of well-known soap opera actresses as they balance picture sessions, award shows, and family time with their hectic production schedules.
Along with Jorgie Porter (Theresa McQueen) and Jamelia (Sharon Bailey) from Hollyoaks, Amy Walsh (Tracy Robinson), Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt), and Roxy Shahidi (Leyla Harding) from Emmerdale will also be joining the three Corrie actors.
Leach, who won Strictly Come Dancing last month with her professional partner Vito Coppola, declared her excitement for the upcoming reality series, Drama Queens: “I’m so excited about Drama Queens.”
“People are so used to seeing me play the character Faye Windass and I’m just so excited for everyone to see who I am and what goes on in my day-to-day life as just Ellie.”
Fallon said that she is “excited for viewers to see a real ‘behind the scenes’ of my chaotic life as an actress and a first-time mother,” while Vincent stated that she is “excited to show the authentic side of having small children whilst trying to navigate my way back into the acting world.”
“It’s time to show people who I am in other areas of my life and how chaotic that can be at times,” Walsh said.
Norton said that she wants to “show the importance of the friendships of my soap family, and how we support each other through the juggle of our lives on Emmerdale with the challenges of everyday life” .
“Who wouldn’t want to make a show with their besties?” Shahidi quipped. It’s an innovative and daring idea. It might have a similar vibe to Sex and the City, but with more rain and a less budget.
While Porter expressed her excitement for the audience to see her in her true light, Jamelia hinted that “chaos is inevitable”.
Producer Rebecca Kenny-Smith of Lime Pictures says, “We’re thrilled to bring audiences a new kind of reality show that goes beyond the glitz and glamour, offering a genuine and raw portrayal of what it’s really like to be a soap star.” Lime Pictures is producing the show.
Filming is under underway for the eight 60-minute episodes of the programme, which will premiere in the spring on ITVX and ITVBe.
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. on ITV1 and via streaming on ITVX is when Coronation Street airs.
