Fans of ITV Emmerdale were left perplexed and worried that a significant character will be “replaced” after a Coronation Street star appeared on Tuesday night’s show.
Tuesday night’s episode of Emmerdale, which saw the continuation of Ella Forster and Mandy Dingle’s budding relationship, left fans perplexed by a newcomer to Coronation Street. Paula Lane, well known to viewers of soap operas as Kylie Platt from Coronation Street, plays Ella.
From 2010 until 2016, Paula was a key member of the Cobbles until her character was brutally slain by Clayton Gibbs, the son of Shona Ramsey, on the street.
Ella’s experience in the Dales hasn’t been smooth sailing as of yet; she lost her job for standing up for Mandy, who assisted Ella in her job search last night.
Paula’s move between ITV’s biggest soap operas thrilled fans, who have applauded her narrative so far.
Some admirers, nevertheless, claimed to be perplexed by Paula’s resemblance to Gabby Thomas actress Rosie Bentham. On the social networking site X, viewers said that they had to double check because they believed Gabby had been embroiled in an unexpected new plot.
Writers said, “Ella looks so much like Gabby,” and, “Keep thinking she’s Gabby at first glance.”
“Thought that was Gabby at first,” chuckled a third, and someone else said, “This girl reminds me of Gabby.”
Paula spoke about joining Coronation Street earlier this month, calling the position a “natural fit”. “I think it’s a natural fit, and obviously, I’m from Yorkshire too,” she said. I have a strong sense that here is where I belong. Some of the actors I already know from running half marathons with them.”
She said, “I’m really pleased that Ella finds a friendship with Mandy quickly,” in reference to her persona. These two will make a fantastic duo, in my opinion. Mandy instantly feels a connection with Ella after realising what a wonderful friend she is.
“What more is there to say about Ella? As far as I know, she doesn’t have any relatives in the village, but anything may happen. Additionally, I believe that a romantic relationship is in the works.
