In Coronation Street, Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) is walking down a dark road.
Simon feels a little adrift ever since Peter (Chris Gascoyne) left. Simon works in the factory, but he often uses drinking and hanging out with his friends at the bar to divert his attention from his lack of love for what he does.
Simon has had difficulties this week with newbie Bobby (Jack Carroll) and Max (Paddy Bever).
Bobby enjoys telling jokes from time to time, but as we get to know him more, it seems that he’s starting to have a negative impact on Simon.
In the ITV soap opera airing on Wednesday, January 23, Bobby and Simon were once again having a few drinks at the pub.
Bobby was informed by Simon that he skipped work yesterday in order to go out with his buddies and that he is now really hangover.
Allison King’s character Carla began to suspect that Simon was lying to her as soon as they got to work.
Carla cautioned Simon not to make a fool of her, but when he refused to arrange for an Underworld delivery, his unruly attitude persisted outdoors.
Carla was forced to fire Simon and tell him to go home.
Bobby went to see Simon at Leanne’s (Jane Danson) apartment and enquired as to if he was going out into town once again.
Simon promised Bobby he would have an early night and made the decision to remain in.
But as night fell, Simon attempted to phone his father while setting a box of beers on the coffee table.
Simon was left feeling lonely and a little resentful of Peter, who had left Weatherfield for a career that included sailing across the globe, when the phone went straight to voicemail.
Simon took a sip from his beer and began to relax. It’s obvious that he misses his father, but is there any way for him to break free from this cycle?
Or will this character’s problems worsen before Alex Bain leaves the show?
After serving in the role for 15 years, the actor has decided to leave the programme.
There are rumours that he will have a very dramatic ending, as new photos showed Simon in an automobile accident with Jude Riordan’s character Sam Blakeman riding along.
