We regret to inform you that you were gravely incorrect if you believed Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) could resist touching each other for more than five minutes on EastEnders.

Tension has been between the three of them ever since Denise Fox (Diane Parish) was devastated to learn of Jack and Stacey’s one-night affair last year.

When Keanu Taylor was killed on Christmas Day and the cover-up that followed, things became even more complex for both Stacey and Denise.

Stacey was recently spotted utilising her friendship with Jack to make sure Denise hadn’t let anything slip, and it became evident that there was still chemistry between them, despite Denise’s struggles to keep her composure.

The Six will be worrying about Keanu’s corpse at the café in future scenes. Stacey will be pressuring Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) to complete her divorce from husband Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) so that they may maintain strict control over the café.

Suki visits Nish as instructed by Stacey, and when she does, she is met with a flurry of inquiries from Nish, who is keen to get the truth about what really transpired on Christmas night.

Suki is able to confuse him, but he still has doubts after speaking with Jessie Wallace’s character Kat Slater about Stacey’s history.

When Sinister Nish gets into the Slater home later, Stacey is scared, but Jack steps in to rescue the day. Sinister Nish will stop at nothing to gain answers.

Stacey goes in to give Jack a kiss as Jack sends Nish packing.

Jack quickly leaves after feeling horrible for betraying Denise once again.

The mood is heated the next day when the Brannings and Slaters gather at the court for baby Charli’s guardianship hearing.

Denise is eager to confront Stacey for an explanation after hearing about the confrontation between Jack, Stacey, and Nish. Despite Stacey’s attempts to reassure her that there was nothing personal against Suki, Denise’s paranoia gets the better of her, and she leaves right away.

Later, Jack shows up for the Slaters party, but Stacey, who is worried about Denise, pulls him aside right away.

Jack is nowhere to be found that night, so Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) is left to comfort Denise as she sobs in her sleep.
