Exclusive: Paula Lane, star of Coronation Street, is one of the two new faces Emmerdale has welcomed to the ITV serial drama in recent months.
Paula Lane, a star of Coronation Street, spoke about why she chose to join Emmerdale, a rival ITV soap opera.
Paula, who plays Ella Forster on the soap opera, has joined the cast and is getting well with Lisa Riley’s character, Mandy Dingle.
Prior to making her Emmerdale debut, the actress—who once portrayed Kylie Platt on the rival ITV soap opera Coronation Street—opened up to Express.co.uk.
Given that the famous serial opera Emmerdale is situated in Yorkshire, the 37-year-old believes she is a “natural fit” for the show.
“I think I’m going to really fit in here,” she continued. at terms of family, it works for me since we live at Hebdon Bridge.
Thus, you know, that’s very great as an actor. I just have a strong sense of belonging here.”
In 2010, Paula made her debut on Coronation Street as Becky McDonald’s (Katherine Kelly) half-sister.
She was the spouse of Jack P. Shephard’s character, David Platt, but sadly, she passed away in 2016 after being stabbed in Weatherfield.
Longtime viewers of Coronation Street will never forget the devastating moments in which Kylie passed away in David’s arms as he cried uncontrollably.
Paula has performed in theatre shows and the BBC One medical drama Call the Midwife since leaving Coronation Street.
Regarding her move to Emmerdale seven years after her departure from Coronation Street, Paul stated: “My first priority will be to develop a completely new character.
“I think enough time has passed to be able to branch out – it’s something different.”
