BEST BROS Coronation Street fans stunned as Tommy Orpington star reveals real life brother was a major villain in ITV soap

Tommy Orpington is set to embark on the show’s steamiest affair yet in the coming weeks

The news that Tommy Orpington actor Matt Milburn has a real-life soap opera villain sibling has shocked CORONATION Street viewers.

After making a few brief visits throughout the years, the Weatherfield County legend known as “Tommy O,” a former football player, has returned to the Cobbles.

But it was evident as the New Year got underway that the athlete’s circumstances had drastically changed.

Followers of the ITV soap opera are aware that the former football hero is now employed as a painter and decorator, overseeing the renovations taking place at number one, which is Steve and Tracy’s house.

The intricacies of Tommy and Tracy’s upcoming sultry relationship have already been hinted at by actress Kate Ford.

Actor Matt already has some fairly close-knit ties to the Cobbles, even if this isn’t his first time appearing on the programme.

Greg Wood, Matt’s brother, is an experienced soap opera performer who has portrayed the notorious loan shark Rick Neelan.

The main things that people remembered about Rick were his protracted conflict with Gary Windass, his dubious activities, and his tragic demise at Gary’s hands.

After years of being unclear about what to do with his profession, Matt has recently disclosed that it was Greg who encouraged him to pursue an acting career.

Matt noted in an interview with the TV Times, “My passion for acting was sparked by seeing my brother in his first college play.”

I thought, ‘I’d want to give it a try,’ after seeing the subsequent rush of adrenaline through him. However, I never really did.

“It was difficult for me to decide precisely what I wanted to accomplish from my late teens to my early 20s. I believed I wanted to be a PE teacher, so I completed a BTEC in Sports Science.”

“After that, I completed my A-Levels and was going to pursue sports journalism at university when I got my first acting opportunity,” he said.

Greg put my name in without telling me because he had a role in Brookside [as Terry Gibson] and was supposed to shoot a play for his friends at university. Patrick Marber named it Dealer’s Choice, and it revolves on poker.

Matt said that his career took off after that, as he was quickly cast as Joe Spencer in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, his first serial opera.

“We filmed it in the basement at night, and it was the best buzz,” Matt recalls. I received an audition for Hollyoaks, which was like going to college, about three weeks later.”
